Senior Kevin Windisch has committed to play volleyball at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Friars’ libero shared, “I choose MIT because the academic rigor, post-graduate opportunities, reputation, and community are all exceptional. The volleyball program also stood out to me because it is a tight-knit and supportive community.”
A three-year varsity letter for Servite, Windisch earned 1st Team All-Trinity League honors his junior year with senior season awards yet to be announced. The Friars’ captain tallied 192 digs in 2022 as he led the team to the CIF-SS D2 Finals after advancing to the Semifinals in 2021. Windisch was also selected to compete in the OC Senior All-Star game that will be played later this month.
Head Coach Matt Marrujo ’07 shared, “Kevin Windisch epitomizes Servite Volleyball. He has trusted the process of working hard, being a great teammate, and keeping his faith and family as priorities. To have the opportunity to continue playing volleyball at MIT is a great accomplishment and I know he is going to have a huge impact on that program. Watching Kevin grow up from being a ball boy to a collegiate student-athlete is one of the greatest joys in my career.”
In addition to volleyball, Windisch has been involved with Priory and PAL at Servite while serving as a volunteer at the Santiago Retreat Center.
Windisch is the second Friar volleyball player to announce his college decision joining Jack Morikawa who is headed to McKendree University.
