Senior Kevin Ryan has committed to play football at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The Friars’ punter shared, “I chose Cal Poly because it’s a great fit for me and a great school academically. I wanted to stay in California close to my family and play D1 football by the beach. Also, it has a great Engineering program.”
A three-year varsity letterman for the Friars, Ryan mainly handles kicking duties for Servite but also plays linebacker.
Coach Troy Thomas shared, “We are so excited for Kevin’s commitment to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He joins a long line of Servite football players who have gone on to play for the Mustangs. As a player Kevin is a unique punter as he is also an inside linebacker. The kid loves to hit!”
Ryan will join fellow Friar Zedakiah Centers ’20 at Cal Poly in the fall and is one of five football players from the Class of 2021 to announce their commitment.
In closing Ryan shared, “It has always been my dream to play Division 1 football and it’s a true blessing to say I will be attending Cal Poly SLO. I would like to say thank all of my family and coaches for all the countless meals and hours shaping me into the best football player I can be. Thank you for believing in me and pushing me to produce only my best.”
