Jim Hunt, or Ellis to those who know him, graduated Servite in 1971 and began teaching here in fall of 1983. He is the rare bird to have been both a science and English teacher, as he is a nurse as well as a man of letters. Prior to becoming an English teacher, he was head of the Science Department at Servite. His lectures are filled with the adventures of Odysseus, the trials of Job, and the ponderings of Socrates. He is respected for his wisdom, and highly regarded for his rigor, discipline, and commitment. The men are often found making up work in his room, asking questions of him, and clarifying elusive ideas of mythology and poetry with Mr. Hunt. He has been doing this so long that it is hard to imagine a time when he was NOT a teacher here.
