For the final time in their high school careers, four Servite seniors will don their baseball jerseys as they represent the Friars in Sunday’s Trinity League vs. Sunset League All-Star game. The contest will be held June 2nd at Great Park Stadium in Irvine at 12:30pm.
Pitchers Knolton Clark and Alec Rath as well as shortshop CJ Masciel and designated hitter Sean Lugo are among Servite’s participants.
A three-year varsity letterman for the Friars, Clark pitched 50 innings in his senior season for Servite earning 10 starts while coming in once in relief. Overall, he finished the year a 1.54 ERA striking out 48 batters. He will continue his baseball career at Purdue University next season.
Loyola Marymount University signee, Alec Rath spent his Servite career pitching in relief for the Friars. Through his three-year varsity career, he pitched 44.3 innings finishing with a 1.69 ERA and 28 strikeouts. Following his junior campaign, he was also named 2nd Team All-Trinity League.
Selected CO-MVP for the Friars this season, shortstop CJ Masciel is headed to Cal Baptist University to play for the Lancers next spring. Like Clark and Rath, he was also a 3-year varsity letterman for Servite playing second, third and shortshop during his career. Offensively, he hit .269 his senior season while leading the team in RBIs (17) and hits (29).
Last but not least is Sean Lugo. Lugo was selected 1st Team All-Trinity League his senior season after leading the team in batting average (.278), OBP (.406) and OPS (.786). During the 15 league games he hit an impressive .415 with a team-high 9 RBIs and 17 hits.
Clark and Masicel were also selected to play in the Orange County All-Star game in May.
