Ethan Grimminger ’22 has committed to wrestle at Duke University. The Friars 120lb wrestler shared, “I chose Duke for academics. I have always prioritized my education and I believe Duke will give me the best chance for success later on in life. The fact that I get to continue my wrestling career in college is a bonus! I wanted to wrestle in college, and to have a school I was interested in attracted to me too made it a perfect fit.”
A two-year varsity letterman for the Fight’n Friars, Grimminger is a 2x All-Trinity League selection winning an individual title in 2022. He also finished as CIF Runner-Up his senior year while advancing to the unofficial State meet junior year after no CIF competition was held.
As a team, Grimminger helped lead the Friars to a Trinity League Championship in 2021 and a CIF-SS Dual Meet Runner-Up title in 2022.
Coach Alan Clinton shared, “Ethan would truly be considered Mr. Servite because shows leadership qualities in the classroom, community and in athletic competition. If there was a poster child for Servite, it would be him. On the mat, he was a true leader who each and every time he stepped out to compete got better and better, never giving up and never letting down. This mentality afforded him great success in high school and the opportunity to wrestle at the next level.”
Grimminger, who plans to study biology on the pre-med track at Duke, is has also been involved with the Red Cross Club, National Honor Society, CSF, Key Club and Medical Device Club at Servite while also serving as a Judo Sensei.
