Senior Ernesto Garcia has committed to play soccer at the University of La Verne. The Friars’ midfielder shared, “I chose La Verne because I am familiar with the area, know the school is great academically and like the size school. I am thankful for the opportunity to compete for the Leopards and see my dream of playing college soccer come true.”

A three-year varsity letterman for Servite, Garcia has helped lead the Friars to their last three Trinity League titles and the CIF-SS Division 1 Championship this season! He also earned 1st Team All- Trinity League recognition in 2019.

Coach Jon Spencer shared, “We are excited that Ernesto has decided to attend the University of La Verne. Ernesto came to Servite as an attacking winger but over the past two seasons we repositioned him to defensive midfielder. He adapted really well and blossomed into one of the best high school players in Southern California.” He continued, “He helped us win Trinity League and assisted the game-winning goal in the CIF title game this season. We are so proud of his accomplishments over the past four years and believe he will be a great addition to the La Verne program.”

Garcia is the third Friar from his class to commit joining David Mitnzer (Portland) and Uriel Sanchez (Cal State Dominguez Hills).

In closing, Garcia said, “I would like to thank my family for their constant support and also my coaches for pushing me to be a better player every day.”

Servite would like to congratulate Ernesto and wish him the best of luck as he moves onto La Verne.
