Emanuel Dean ’19 has been selected to participate in the MLB All-Star High School Home Run Derby in Washington DC on July 15th! The derby will be livestreamed on MLB.com starting at 8am PST.
Dean is one of eight high school seniors who will compete on the national stage during All-Star Week at Nationals Park and one of two from California! This isn’t the first time he will play in a big league ballpark having played at Angels Stadium, Petco Park and most recently at Tropicana Field during the Perfect Game National Showcase earlier this summer.
As a junior, Dean hit four home runs for the Friars, tying for most on the team with Jarred Greene ’18. He was one of three players to hit a home run on opening day and most notably hit two home runs to lead Servite Baseball to a come-from-behind victory over Corona Sanitago at Cal Baptist University in March. He then finished the year with a home run against Mater Dei in the Friars’ regular season finale vs. the Monarchs.
A 2018 All-Trinity League Honorable Mention selection, Dean hit .297 in league play with eight RBIs and 11 hits including five extra base hits. He also led the team in Slugging Percentage (.486) while finishing second in On Base Percentage (.400).
Dean is committed to play college baseball at UCLA.
Servite wishes Dean the best of luck as he competes this summer!
