Servite became a second family to Elsa Quintana-Gibbs when she began teaching Spanish at Servite in 1978. She met her future husband, Track Coach and Health teacher, Richard Gibbs, shortly after starting here. They were married in 1981. They were extremely touched by the members of the Class of 1981, who helped them celebrate their engagement. Their son, Alex Gibbs (’07), was born in 1989. The Class of 1989 had a nickname for him—RAGS! When asked, Elsa stated: “I have always felt well-treated by the young men of Servite.” As a teacher, her goal is always to help students come away from her Spanish class with a better understanding of and acceptance of other cultures. She wants them to go off and make the world a better place. She finds it rewarding to hear from former students who are using their Spanish speaking skills in their career. Her undergraduate degree in Spanish is from Cal-State Fullerton and she holds a Masters Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from U.S. International University.
