Senior Cole Rasic has committed to play volleyball at Pepperdine University. The Friars’ outside hitter shared, “I chose Pepperdine because it provides me with a great education while continuing to practice my faith. It has a beautiful campus and is far enough away from home but still in California.”
He went on to say, “I was attracted to the volleyball program specifically because of the competitive atmosphere, the prestigious history and their commitment to developing me both as a volleyball player and man.”
A three-year varsity letterman for Servite Volleyball, Rasic helped lead the Friars to a Trinity League Championship in 2019 earning 2nd Team All-League recognition while pacing the team in kills with 270. This season, he led the team to the Redondo Tournament Championship being named Tournament MVP. Through 18 games, he has already tallied 212 kills, 27 blocks, 83 digs and 21 aces.
Coach Matt Marrujo shared, “Cole has been one of the hardest-working players in our program for the last four years. The commitment and dedication he has put into becoming the best player possible is a great example for all of our younger players. More importantly, Cole is a great young man. He treats everyone around him with love and respect. I am so proud of him for accomplishing his goal of playing college volleyball. Pepperdine’s program with their great coaching staff is the perfect fit for Cole to continue to grow and develop as a player and a man.”
In addition to volleyball, Rasic is also involved with the Sports Medicine Club at Servite and plays club volleyball at Balboa Bay Volleyball Club.
Rasic is the first Friar from the class of 2020 to commit to play collegiately after three players from last year’s varsity team moved on to compete at the next level.
In closing, Rasic shared, “I’d like to thank my family and friends for their constant support throughout my ongoing athletic career. Thank you for always believing in me and making me into the person I am today. I could not have made it to this point without you. To my coaches, thank you for giving me the opportunity to better myself every day and always helping me not only a become better volleyball player, but a better person as well.”
Servite would like to congratulate Cole and wish him the best as he concludes his senior year and looks ahead to college.
