Christian Ciuffetelli made his senior season one to remember as he finished his career on a high note being named Trinity League Co-Pitcher of the Year, Servite Team MVP, a 2x All-Star and now a 1st Team All-Orange County selection.
A three-year Varsity letterman for the Friars, Ciuffetelli served as the ace for the Servite Baseball team this season posting a 7-3 overall record in 12 starts while finishing league play 4-1. He tallied 68 strikeouts in 65 innings of work, both team highs, and posted a .646 ERA.
Servite Pitching Coach Duane Page has watched Ciuffetelli develop over the years sharing, “To be selected as First-Team All-Orange County is quite the honor. To be recognized for having the season Christian did is humbling. Orange County is the best geographical area in the country in regards to baseball talent.” He continued, “Christian’s inner drive to dominate hitters and to win baseball games is at a level of the most elite that toe the rubber. He isn’t someone that ever needs to be motivated.”
Ciuffetelli’s best outing came on May 7th when he threw a no-hitter on the road against Mater Dei striking out 11 batters while walking none. The Friars won the game 6-0 and went on to win the series, 2-1 over the Monarchs. He pitched six or more innings for the Friars on seven different occasions this season, tossing a complete game twice.
He finished his three-year career with a 2.07 ERA and 110 strikeouts in 128.2 innings pitched for Servite while amassing a 13-6 overall record.
Ciuffetelli now sets his sights on college baseball having signed with the University of Oregon. He will be joined by fellow Friar Tanner Smith ’18 in Eugene and will follow in the footsteps of former Servite pitcher Cole Irvin ’12 who pitched for the Ducks before being drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies.
