Senior Bryton Hickok has signed with the University of Tampa to play lacrosse. The Friars’ defenseman shared, “I chose Tampa because of the location and their talented lacrosse program.”

A three-year varsity letterman for Servite lacrosse, Hickok earned 2nd Team All-Trinity League honors his sophomore season and 1st Team All-Trinity League recognition his senior year tallying four goals, 68 ground balls and 37 caused turnovers in 2021.

Coach Tom O’Leary shared, “Bryton is a great example of what Servite lacrosse is known for. Coming in with no formal lacrosse experience, Bryton grinded his way onto the varsity roster as only a sophomore.  His desire to further progress landed him on the Under Armour All-American West team and eventually being recruited by NCAA DII powerhouse, The University of Tampa. Lacrosse wise, Bryton came from nothing. His success was initially driven by pure athleticism, but later replaced with a passion to become one of the best take away defensemen in Orange County.”

Coach O’Leary continued, “It amazes me that in four short years, a young man with no experience, in one of the toughest sports to pick up, left here with the opportunity to play for one of the best teams in college lacrosse. That in itself speaks volumes to his belief in Mastery of Self!”

Hickok, who plans to study business administration at Tampa, volunteers with his church’s confirmation program when he’s not playing lacrosse.

Hickok is the third lacrosse player from the senior class to announce his college decision joining Nick Sheremetta (Bellarmine) and Evan Watanabe (North Central).

In closing he shared, “To my family and coaches, thank you guys for everything!!! I truly wouldn’t be here without you.”
