Senior Benjamin Miltko has committed to play baseball at Davidson College. The Friars’ right handed pitcher shared, “I chose Davidson because of its beautiful location in North Carolina and the great academic and athletic opportunities it will provide for me.” He went on to say, “I was specifically attracted to the baseball program because of my interactions with the coaches, especially the pitching coach. I feel the program will give me the chance to develop as not only a pitcher, but also as a man.”
A three-year varsity letterman for Servite baseball, Coach Shawn Gilbert shared, “We couldn’t be more excited for Ben and his commitment to Davidson! He got what he was looking for, a good athletic school with a great academic reputation! Ben has been an outstanding teammate showing great work ethic over the past four years. We are extremely proud of the work he has put in.” He continued, “He has made a focused effort on really developing as a pitcher over the past year and has made big strides. He has some of the best stuff on our pitching staff with three quality pitches- fastball, curveball, and a change up. We expect Ben to make a big impact for us this year as either a starter or in relief.”
Miltko, who plans to study Economics at Davidson, is also involved with CSF, the Historical Languages Club, and the Priory program serving as the Vicar General.
Miltko is the sixth baseball player to announce his college commitment and the second senior joining Brady Childs who is headed to Drury University.
In closing Miltko shared, “I would like to thank my parents for all of the time and effort they have put in to allow me to attend such a great high school and always put in the best possible situation to succeed. I also would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to all of my Servite coaches and teachers who have pushed me and tested me, allowing me to grow both in the classroom and on the field.”
The 2021 baseball season is scheduled to begin in mid March.
