Senior Ben Florentine has committed to play football at the University of Wyoming. The Friars’ defensive lineman shared, “I chose Wyoming because I felt it was the perfect fit for me. First, because of the great business school they offer as well as it being in a great college town that is centered around the campus. Also, since the very beginning of my recruiting process, Wyoming has been at the top of my list because of the great coaching staff and the newly renovated football facilities.

A 1st Team All-Trinity League Defensive player, Florentine was a three-year varsity letterman for Servite Football serving on the Curia his senior season. In six games played this year, he tallied 26 tackles including a team-high six tackles for loss.

Coach Troy Thomas shared, “Ben has been a very selfless player in our program starting at three different positions the last three years. He started off playing inside linebacker as a sophomore, center as a junior and defensive end as a senior. He is going to be an excellent addition to the Wyoming football program.”

Florentine is the 8th football play to announce his college decision joining Noah Avinger (SDSU), Kyle Bandy (UNLV), Nick Jako (Davidson), Jack Kane (Oregon State), Bryce Leos (Colby), Shancco Matautia (New Mexico) and Kevin Ryan (Cal Poly SLO).

In closing Florentine shared, “First, I want to thank God for all his blessings. Secondly, I want to thank my family and friends for their constant support and love, and for always believing in me. Lastly, thank you to my coaches who have helped me develop not only into the football player I am but the man I am today.”
