Thomas Monaghan, founder of Ave Maria University (Florida) visited Servite High School October 31. Monaghan founded Domino’s Pizza in 1960 and is former owner of the Detroit Tigers. Later, he founded Legatus, a membership organization of Catholic business leaders. He was in Orange County to promote a North Orange County chapter of Legatus. He was a member of Young President’s Organization who wanted to establish a similar organization for Catholics to address matters of faith, family, business and community. He was inspired to do so upon receiving Holy Communion from Pope John Paul II in the mid-1980s. There are now 74 chapters of Legatus throughout the United States.
Monaghan met with Servite President, Pete Bowen, to discuss “Leadership” and building the next-generation of leaders this nation can trust. He received a tour of the campus, and saw the hallway renovation which highlighted Ave Maria University on the list of colleges Servite students were accepted to in the 2012 College Acceptance year.
