Servite Football opened the 2018 season with a bang as Zedakiah Centers returned the opening kickoff from Bakersfield for a 99 yard touchdown! The play ignited the crowd and set the tone early. The Friars went on to defeat the Drillers 17-7 to earn Coach Thomas a win in his first game back at the helm.
The play also set a new school record for the Longest Kickoff Return breaking the previous mark of 98 yards set by Matt Flanagan in 2005 vs. AB Miller.
In addition, Centers was named Special Teams Athlete of the Week by Cal-Hi Sports and was selected by Sports Recruits to have one of the top 10 plays of the week!
Centers and Servite Football return to action Friday when they host Norco at 7pm at Cerritos College.
