Servite Wrestling capped a historic season with this weekend’s CIF State Meet where four Fight’n Friars finished on the medal stand.
Tristen Wilson (195) was the top placer for Servite taking 4th overall adding to an already impressive junior campaign.
Wilson began his road to state by winning a Trinity League Championship, then a CIF title before finishing as a Masters Runner-Up.
Ranked No. 7 entering the tournament, Wilson earned a win by decision in the first round then won by fall in the second round to earn a spot in the quarterfinals. He then upset the No. 2 ranked wrestler from Liberty, 14-12 to advance to the semifinals. After a back-and-forth battle, he dropped a close match by decision 17-12 to the No. 3 seed from Buchanan. Wilson went on to finish 4th overall, the highest finish by a Friar since Liam Cronin in 2016 who took 2nd.
