Servite Football opened the 2019 season last week with a 48-7 win over JW North while the JV and Freshmen Friars earned shutout victories over the Huskies.

Defense played lights out across all three levels with many players contributing to the team’s success. Junior safety Nick Jako was among those who had standout performances to become our first Athlete of the Week for the 2019-2020 school year. He tallied 11 tackles as Servite held JW North to just 134 yards of total offense. Jako was also selected as one of the four captains for the Friars in the season opener.

Offensively, sophomore quarterback Noah Fifita had a breakout performance in his first varsity start throwing fives touchdowns and rushing for one while fellow sophomore wide receiver Tetairoa “TMac” McMillan caught three touchdowns.

Varsity will return to the gridiron Saturday in Las Vegas when they take on Bishop Gorman as part of the Polynesian Classic.
