For 22 years, Art Ronnfeldt performed important support roles as janitor, plumber, carpenter, mechanic, custodian. He was steady, constant, organized and purposeful. He was never long in one place. He fixed everything – bleachers, pipes, toilets, windows, fire alarms – and made it look good as new. The gym was his pet albatross. It had to be ship-shape all of the time. If the bleachers cracked or became disassembled, he was on it and had them fixed by the next morning. He was very patient and understanding of your difficulty and would say, “Let’s go see” as an address to a problem. Almost instantly, without critique or complaint, would be the repair. He loved the students. His understanding of them and their chicanery was boundless. The 1975 yearbook was dedicated to him. He retired in 1983, difficult to replace.
