After 16 years serving the Servite High School Athletic Department, Alan Clinton has announced he will retire from his role as Athletic Director at the conclusion of the 2022 school year. He will remain as Head Wrestling Coach and continue to lead the Servite Wrestling team moving forward.

Clinton has dedicated nearly 40 years of his life to athletic administration, working as the Athletic Director at El Modena High School in Orange for 22 years prior to coming to Servite.

Principal Stephen Walswick shared, “Coach Clinton has been a phenomenal leader and champion of advancing our mission at Servite High School. His work ethic, dedication, and spirit have demonstrated a true commitment to the virtues and charism of the Order Friar Servants of Mary. I am most grateful to him and his family for their sacrifice and service to our school.”

Clinton has been influential in the success and continued growth of the athletic department, coaching staff and athletic facilities during his tenure as Athletic Director. Over 40 teams have won Trinity League Championships with an additional 20 bringing home coveted CIF titles. Courage Field, the baseball field, aquatics center and gym have been renovated in the last five years alone while community-building events such as Friar Feast and the Hall of Fame Dinner and All Sports Banquet have been created under his guidance.

Clinton said, “I am honored and privileged to have had the opportunity to serve the Servite High School community, its student-athletes, coaches, families and alumni for the last 16 years. Looking back, I am extremely proud of what we have been able to build together as we’ve led Servite to prominence not only in the Southern Section but also in the state of California. I am very excited to remain in the community as the Head Wrestling Coach and to continue to build the legacy of our Fight’n Friar program for years to come.”

Clinton went on to say, “None of this would have been possible without the support of my incredible family. I want to especially thank my wife and daughters as well as both the Servite and El Modena administrations for allowing me the opportunity to do what I love. ”

In addition to his responsibilities at Servite, Clinton served on the State Athletic Administration Advisory Committee, the Orange County Athletic Directors Association Board and multiple CIF Advisory Committees. He has also been recognized with numerous awards including the CIF Southern Section Distinguished Service Award in 2020, the CIF State Athletic Director of the Year in 2016, the Sue Kamiyama Award for California State Leadership in 2015 and the Southern Section Athletic Director of the Year in 2009.

A search for Servite’s next Athletic Director is already underway.  Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter to Human Resources Director Niveen Trujillo at [email protected] for immediate consideration.
